what it costs

the prices are on the page because your time is worth more than a call that exists to find out whether you can afford it. if the number is wrong for you, you have lost thirty seconds instead of an afternoon.

one project at a time. a fixed price agreed before anything starts, written down with what is in it and what is not. if the scope changes, the price changes on paper, in advance, or it does not change.

the drawing

$900

5 working days

a measured teardown of the site you have now. weight, speed, task time, a contrast ledger, the keyboard path, and a list of what to fix in what order. paid, not free: a free audit is a sales call with a document attached, and a paid one is the cheapest way for a stranger to test a new studio.

what is in it

  • every page weighed, cold and warm, on a stated device and network
  • a contrast ledger of every text and ground pair actually used
  • the keyboard path walked and timed, with what breaks
  • a prioritised list: what to fix first, what it costs, what it is worth
  • the raw measurements, in your repository, as files

what is not

  • any implementation
  • a redesign
  • ongoing monitoring

the sign

$7,500

5 to 6 weeks

the identity. the name treatment and the lit-name system, the colour ramp with every contrast figure computed rather than estimated, the type scale, and a written book that says what to do when two rules disagree. the 1:1 pattern is drawn, signed and sent.

what is in it

  • the mark in every state it needs, as flat vector
  • a colour ramp with a computed contrast figure for every pair
  • a type scale with size, weight, leading and tracking for every role
  • a written brand book, delivered as live html and as a pdf
  • design tokens as json, so nothing downstream picks a colour by eye
  • the 1:1 pattern, printed and signed
  • two review rounds

what is not

  • a website
  • printed collateral beyond the pattern
  • naming

the sign and the building

$19,500

10 to 12 weeks

the identity above, plus the site. static, hand built, no framework and no third parties, to a weight budget published on the page and enforced by the build. you get the repository, the deploy, and the measurement file underneath all of it.

what is in it

  • everything in the sign
  • a static site of up to twelve pages
  • a published weight budget that the build enforces
  • measured accessibility: contrast ledger, keyboard path, reduced motion
  • the repository, the deploy workflow and the hosting handover
  • a measurement file with dates, hardware and what is still unknown
  • three review rounds

what is not

  • copywriting beyond editing what you have
  • photography
  • a cms
  • ongoing retainers

the guaranteeif the delivered pages go over the published weight budget, or miss the stated speed target on the stated device, the fix is not billed. it is the only guarantee worth giving, because it is the only one that can be checked.

what i turn down

  • retainers for content updates. you should be able to change your own words.
  • rush fees. if it does not fit the schedule i say so instead of charging for the stress.
  • work on a platform that cannot meet the weight budget. we will say which one and why.
  • more than one project at a time.

write and say which one is closest. [email protected]
